Kantara: Worldwide closing box office collections

  • Kantara is currently in its eleventh week and is nearly finished with its box office run.
  • The movie broke a number of records and achieved a number of milestones.
  • It made history by surpassing the enormous KGF Chapter 2.

Kantara is currently in its eleventh week and is nearly finished with its box office run. The movie’s ninth week after its digital release saw a decline, although it was still able to record the fourth-largest ninth week ever.

Beginning in week five and continuing through week eight, the movie has four weekly box office records in India, with the fourth week’s performance ranking second. It has so far made around Rs. 361 crores in India and an additional Rs. 36 crores internationally for a total worldwide box office revenue of Rs. 397 crores, or just shy of Rs. 400 crores.

The movie broke a number of records and achieved a number of milestones, but the most important was that it made history by surpassing the enormous KGF Chapter 2 to become the highest-grossing movie ever in Karnataka. Just behind KGF 2, the movie is the second-most popular Sandalwood film of all time.

These figures are stunning on their own, but the way they were obtained is truly unprecedented. On launch day in September, it brought in Rs. 1.70 crores, and as of December, the total has increased by more than 200 times. However, even without that, it still managed to leg 100x in Karnataka. This is largely due to the late release outside of Karnataka.

The multiplier was significant outside of Karnataka as well. Kerala experienced a multiple of 40x, the Hindi version in North India had a multiple of 70x, and even APTS, which is often frontloaded, managed to achieve a multiple of 17x.

Following is a breakdown of Kantara’s box office receipts by region:

Karnataka: 173.25 crores of rupees
AP/TS: 59 crores rupees
Kerala: Rs. 18.50 billion
Tamil Nadu: 11.75 crores of rupees
India as a whole: Rs. 98.50 crores
