The user interface of the Google Search app will soon be updated to have a new look. According to Android Police, Google is reportedly testing certain improvements to the app, one of which involves making the search bar somewhat thicker. The icons for Google Lens and voice search will continue to be displayed on the bar.
A carousel with shortcut suggestions has also been added directly underneath the search bar. These suggestions include things like “Search recent Screenshots from your library,” how to get help with your homework by using your camera and Google Lens, and how to identify songs, among other things. Another new feature is the increased width of the search bar.
These ideas can enlighten you about features of Google Search that you may not have been aware of but that are available to you. They only need one tap on the screen to initiate the procedure and get the ball rolling in the right direction.
In addition, a bell icon has been added to the upper right-hand corner of the screen, right next to your profile photo. If you tap on it, you will receive notifications relating to all of the Google services to which you have subscribed.
The application will soon receive more enhancements, one of which is the capability to display search results even before the user has completed inputting a query. It is important to keep in mind that offering you suggestions on what to search for as you type is something that is already available on the Google Look app. This is not the same thing as showing you suggestions on what to search for.
The difference is that with the new function, Google Search will try to figure out what you are looking for even before you complete putting it into the search field, and it will offer you results before you are finished typing. This is a new addition to the Google Search platform. If Google already knows about the topic you’re looking for, you can cut precious seconds off of your time spent using Google Search.
If Google gives you the inaccurate information, the amount of time it takes you to look down at the screen to verify it and type out your inquiry in its entirety will add a few seconds to the total amount of time you spend using Google Search. Therefore, in order for this to be of any help, Google needs to perfect the algorithm.
It is not clear at this time whether the aforementioned modifications to the Search UI are being sent out to all users by Google or whether this is part of an A/B test (Google is known to run these often).
