AZAD KASHMIR: The third and final phase of the local government elections in Azad Jammu & Kashmir(AJK) is underway in the Mirpur division.
The polling process has started at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm.
According to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission (AJK EC), more than 10,000 police personnel, FC, and Rangers security have been deployed for the election stages while Rangers QRF will be on patrol.
The polling is underway in three districts including Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber in which 4,257 candidates including 37 women are participating in the elections while more than 1238,000 voters will choose their representatives by voting.
AJK EC has established a total of 2,188 polling stations out of which 874 polling stations have been declared as the most sensitive and 803 as sensitive.
Polling in the first phase was conducted on November 27 in the Muzaffarabad division while the second phase of the LG polls was held on December 03 in the Poonch division. The third and final phase is underway in Mirpur.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muslim Conference (MC), Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Party (JKPP), Jamat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and independent candidates are participating in the LG elections in Mirpur.
