- A former COAS attends a test match at Rawalpindi Stadium
- Gen. (Ret.) Bajwa spent two hours watching the game
- Ex-COAS Bajwa praised both teams’ performance
The fourth day of the inaugural Test between Pakistan and England was seen at the Rawalpindi Stadium on Sunday by former army head General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and his family.
Details indicate that the former army chief arrived at the stadium with his family about 2:00 p.m. and left after around two hours of game time. He praised the efforts of both sides.
It should be mentioned that General Qamar Bajwa, who held the position of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for six years, just retired. For a period of three years, General Asim Munir has been named as the new COAS.
Fourth playday
England declared their second innings on 264-7 on the fourth day of the match, giving Pakistan an implausible win goal of 343 with four sessions remaining on Sunday.
England’s pace attack bent their backs and diligently pursued a short-ball strategy to damage Pakistan’s top order on a placid pitch where seven batsmen scored hundreds.
Pakistan was 80-2 at the end of day 4’s play and needed 263 more runs to win the first Test of the series.
Azhar Ali Injury
In the fifth over of the second innings on Sunday, Azhar Ali was struck on the tip of his right index finger and had to leave the field to receive additional medical attention.
Azhar Ali, a right-handed hitter, has recovered from his ailment and is now able to play, the PCB announced on Monday.
