Legendary Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan recently opened up about being detained by Indian officials in 2011 at the airport in New Delhi.
The singer of Zaroori Tha made an appearance on a TV program when he revealed the cause of his brief detention for the first time in 11 years.
When questioned about the incident, Khan said that he had been detained at the airport for having more foreign money than was allowed.
The Pakistani authorities contacted him right after and assisted him in getting clearance in the matter, he said, adding, “I was unaware of the India legislation about foreign currency limit at that time.”
Because of the actions made by Pakistani officials, he claimed, “I got permission by evening of the same day.
The late legend’s nephew and heir, Rahat Fateh, is equally well-liked in Pakistan and India and has participated in a number of projects there.
