The Football World Cup is the biggest event for the world’s most popular sport. It only happens every four years, so Twitter should make a lot of money from ads during this time.
But, the sources say that this has not been the case. The Times says that Twitter’s internal revenue estimates for the fourth quarter of 2022 have dropped from $1.4 billion to $1.1 billion.
In October, Musk took over. Reports say that half of the site’s biggest sponsors, which included big names like Chipotle, Ford, and Chevrolet, have left.
Musk has unbanned some controversial accounts and ended Twitter’s COVID misinformation policy. He did this because big companies don’t want their ads to show up next to mean tweets.
Advertisers started to have doubts about his Twitter deal before he even signed it. A business that analyses advertising said that Twitter had 3,980 advertisers in May, which was one month after Mr.
Musk agreed to buy the company. By October, it only had 2,315 advertisers, which was less than any other month up to that point.
