- John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum was screened at Comic-Con Experience 2022.
- Keanu Reeves will appear in the spin-off Ballerina for “a few sequences”.
The story of Keanu Reeves’ character, a hitman who returns to the game after Viggo Tarasov’s son, Iosef, broke into John’s house, stole his car, and killed his dog, has fans.
After being labelled excommunicado, John’s story began in New York, then moved to Rome in John Wick: Chapter 2, and finally to Morocco in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
In addition to his appearance in the latest instalment, John Wick will appear in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina for “a few sequences.”
Reeves took the stage during the John Wick panel at Comic-Con Experience 2022, the world’s largest pop culture festival with attractions and panels about comics, TV series, movies, video games, and literature, to share a little more about what audiences can expect from him in Ballerina, saying “I got to be in it, so I’ll be there for a few scenes. That was pleasant. They’re currently filming, and the script is fantastic, as is the story. I’m excited about it.”
While fans can expect to see John Wick kick ass and take names in the spinoff, the story is centred on a character played by Ana de Armas. Reeves hinted at what to expect from her, saying:
“[she is a] woman who has some very difficult circumstances and who’s looking for revenge. Whoever killed her- someone killed her father. Who could that be? And so it’s her journey for actually understanding her past. She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn’t really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father, who had a tattoo. And as we know in John Wick, if you have a tattoo, something’s going on.”
John Wick: In Chapter 4, John discovers and devises a strategy to finally defeat the High Table, a council of twelve people who govern the underworld’s most powerful criminal organizations.
Before he can achieve the freedom he craves, John will have to confront a new and powerful foe who will turn old friends into feared foes.
In addition to Reeves reprising his role as the titular character, Ian McShane reprises his role as Winston, the manager of the New York Continental Hotel; Lance Reddick reprises his role as Charon, the Continental’s concierge; and Laurence Fishburne reprises his role as the Bowery King.
Along with the returning cast members, newcomers include Bill Skarsgard as The Marquis, Clancy Brown as The Harbinger, Donnie Yen as Caine, Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu, Rina Sawayama as Akira, Shamier Anderson as The Tracker, Scott Adkins as Killa, and Natalia Tena as Katia.
The latest instalment will be just as exciting and action-packed, based on the look and feel of the previous three films and what we’ve seen so far.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in theatres on March 24, 2023. The full video of Reeves’ comments is available below:
