Runs keep pouring on the flat surface, records fall in the Rawalpindi Test

Imam and Abdullah establish the best opening partnership for Pakistan in a Test match for the first time ever; Crawley and Duckett scored hundreds in England’s opening inning.
RAWALPINDI: The flat Rawalpindi surface enabled the batters hit tonnes after tonnes, and so far six centuries have been achieved in the first three days of the opening Test match between Pakistan and England.

Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, the two Pakistani openers, finished their centuries today while trying to catch England’s massive 657-run total.

With their 225-run partnership against England, the two smashed Pakistan’s previous mark for the game’s greatest opening stand. In their record-breaking combination, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique each scored 121 points.

Mohsin Hassan and Shoaib Muhammad previously held the record for their opening 173-run partnership against England in 1984.

The fact that both openers from both teams achieved hundreds in the opening innings of a test match is a first in test history, which adds to the pair of centuries by the Pakistanis.

Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, two English openers, both hit hundreds in the opening frame. Duckett was fired after scoring 107 while Crawley scored 122.

A 233-run opening stand was given by the English hitter for their squad. England scored 657 runs in all during their opening inning.
