King Charles lashes out on reporter: Exposed

King Charles
  • Charles and Camilla got hitched in April 2005 and had been together for more than 17 years.
  • The former Prince of Wales had not been a big fan of Witchell.
  • Journalist Nicholas Witchell had been the first to report the passing of his ex-wife Princess Diana in 1997.

In front of his sons Prince William and Harry, King Charles once made some crude remarks to a reporter that were recorded on a microphone.

The former Prince of Wales Charles, who was on vacation with young William and Harry in the Swiss Alps, recently shared a classic royal throwback moment. Charles appeared to have forgotten that media microphones were on when he made a particularly offensive remark about one of the journalists present.

When Camilla, who is now the Queen Consort, had been referred to for years at that point as the “other lady” in Charles’ marriage to Diana, the BBC’s royal journalist Nicholas Witchell had asked about the couple’s impending nuptials.

King Charles, when informed about his upcoming second marriage, turned to his sons and appeared to say, “I’m very glad you heard of it anyway,” before contorting his face and adding, “Bloody people. I can’t bear that man. He’s so awful. He really is.”

Prince William instantly intervened to make light of the situation by adding, “As long as I don’t lose the rings,” as he realised that others may have heard his father’s remark.  I have one responsibility and I’m bound to do something wrong.”

The former Prince of Wales had not been a big fan of Witchell, who had been the first to report the passing of his ex-wife Princess Diana in 1997, thus his remarks toward the journalist were not entirely unexpected.
