Akshay Kumar discussed his Canadian citizenship and comments he’s received. “Having a Canadian passport does not make me any less of an Indian. I have been here for nine years since I got my passport. And I don’t want to get into the reason why, what happened, my films weren’t working, blah blah blah,” said the Ram Setu actor at the event.

Akshay Kumar previously tweeted about gaining Canadian citizenship. After 14-15 movie office flops, the actor planned to travel to Canada to start a fresh career. “I genuinely don’t understand the unjustified curiosity and criticism regarding my citizenship. I have never concealed or disputed that I possess a Canadian passport. It’s also true that I haven’t visited Canada in seven years. I work in India and pay all my taxes here,” he tweeted.
