Akshay Kumar’s Canadian citizenship has been mocked when he promotes national causes. Despite having a Canadian passport, the actor pays taxes in India.
Akshay said that having a Canadian passport doesn’t make him less Indian. His passport is nine years old. Kumar said, “And I don’t want to get into the reason of why what happened, my films were not working, blah blah blah,”

Akshay revealed he got Canadian citizenship when his films flopped and he considered moving there. One of his Canadian friends suggested he move if he wasn’t successful in India, where many people work. Akshay considered moving there, but after getting citizenship, he had film success again and decided to stay.
