Russia intends to employ Iranian missiles for potential assaults on the country’s infrastructure, particularly its energy sector, claims the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky

According to Zelensky in his nighttime address on Sunday, over 4.5 million people in Kyiv and six other districts are already without electricity as a result of Russian strikes.

“We also understand that the terrorist state is concentrating forces and means for a possible repetition of mass attacks on our infrastructure. First of all, energy,” Zelensky said. “In particular, for this, Russia needs Iranian missiles,” the Ukrainian president said, adding Ukraine is “preparing to respond.”

He also said that on Sunday, Russians “used Iranian attack drones again,” but he stopped short of providing any further details.

“The whole world will know that the Iranian regime helps Russia prolong this war,” Zelensky said.

“If it was not for the Iranian supply of weapons to the aggressor, we would be closer to peace now,” he continued. “And this means closer to a complete solution to the food crisis.”

According to representatives of a Western nation that regularly watches Iran’s weapons programme, Iran is getting ready to ship some 1,000 more weapons, including missiles and more attack drones, to Russia.

It would be the first time that Iran sent highly advanced precision guided missiles to Russia, which might offer the Russian military a significant advantage. As a result, the cargo is being closely watched.

Since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in late February, Iranian drones have become a major factor in the fight.
