This summer, Stranger Things Season 4 swept the globe, when the penultimate episode of Netflix’s acclaimed science fiction series saw the Upside Down universe unexpectedly crash into Hawkins, Indiana.
The outstanding and incredibly immersive score created by the enormously gifted musicians Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein has been a feature of Stranger Things that has distinguished the series from the very start.
In line with the weekend-long Stranger Things Day celebrations, Lakeshore Records has revealed that three songs from the expansive Season 4 score by Dixon & Stein will receive “Spatial Mix” versions on Apple Music.
The three songs receiving this immersive special treatment from the Season 4 score’s 80 total tracks are “Teens,” the most recent version of the enduring Season 1 tune “Kids;” The song “There are some things worse than ghosts…,” which is also the “Stranger Things” theme, is heard amid some terrible Vecna revelations in Season 4 Volume 1.
Despite the fact that only three of the tracks are featured on the Spatial Mix EP, the three that were chosen do a fantastic job of capturing the whole gamut of emotions elicited by the Stranger Things soundtrack.
While “There are some things worse than ghosts…” is laden with the terror of Vecna and the nostalgic 1980s horror his mere existence instils in the listener, “Teens” is a cheery song linked with the lighter moments enjoyed by the young adventuring party in the series.
Digital downloads of the Dolby Atmos “Spatial Remixes” are only available on Apple Music. Stranger Things’ soundtrack is perfect for the intensely emotional experience that Dolby Atmos moving audio produces.
As we get ready to return to Hawkins for the final time, this new EP should make the ideal background music for Netflix’s Stranger Things Day celebrations.
