Iran admits giving Russia drones prior to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. The statement by Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian comes after previous denials by Tehran that it had supplied Russia with weapons for use in Ukraine, saying it “has not and will not” do so.
Amirabdollahian did not say if the drones that were supplied to Moscow were the type that carry explosives.
Since Russia began its invasion in late February, self-detonating drones have been a major factor in the fight. They have the ability to circle for a while in an area that has been flagged as a prospective target before hitting once an enemy asset is located.
