‘Terrifier 2’ director Mike Flanagan praises final girl Lauren LaVera

  • Mike Flanagan has tweeted his thoughts on Terrifier 2.
  • The writer-director is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary horror.
  • He praised the film’s “terrific” performance by Lauren LaVera.

Even as Halloween approaches, the buzz surrounding the recent slasher sequel Terrifier 2 continues, with the vomit-inducing gorefest being nominated for an Academy Award.

Modern-day horror icon Mike Flanagan has applauded Damien Leone’s buzzworthy sequel, following the premiere of his latest Netflix series The Midnight Club and exciting news for his next series The Fall of the House of Usher based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

The writer-director of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass came to Twitter to express his thoughts on the much-discussed sequel.

Flanagan, one of the most prominent voices in contemporary horror, shared his thoughts on the film’s popularity and the return of Art the Clown.

The talented filmmaker and master of tension — who has also given audiences significant scares in films such as Hush, Gerald’s Game, and Doctor Sleep — focused his brief review on the film’s invention of an elevated sub-genre as well as Lauren LaVera’s “terrific” performance as the protagonist, Sienna.

Terrifier 2 follows up where the first film left off, with Tara Heyes (Jenna Kannel) discovering she was the target of a vicious murderer’s infatuation on Halloween night.

David Howard Thornton resumed his role as Art the Clown, a now-supernatural figure that comes to Miles County with a new fixation to celebrate the autumnal holiday.

Sienna (La Vera) is a teen who looks after her younger brother Jonathan (Elliot Fullman), who wants to dress up as the famed murderer for Halloween this year.

Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Chris Jericho (MacGruber), Sarah Voigt (We Have a Ghost), Kailey Hyman (A Man Called Otto), Casey Hartnett (What We Found), and Griffin Santopietro also appear in the sequel (Cobra Kai).

Horror lovers with Netflix accounts may watch some of Flanagan’s most recent work by exploring the Flanaverse Collection, which also contains films like Before I Wake, Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Absentia.

Terrifier 2 is now available exclusively on ScreamBox and will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD in December.
