ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has said that extremism cannot be eradicated if Pakistanis do politics of hatred in the society.
Talking to the media, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said that democracy is the name of tolerance and extremism is the opposite of democracy.
He said that what Imran Khan has become a victim of today is the same trend and attitude that he started in 2017 and 2018. He recalled, “I was attacked by a young man who was given a religious color about four years ago.”
He further said that PTI resorted to religious fanaticism during the entire election. He explained, “I was also responding to this religious fanaticism to the people of my constituency but I am proud of the people of my constituency that they had succeeded me by rejecting PTI’s negative politics with a record majority.”
Ahsan Iqbal said that the religious extremism which Imran Khan and his party gave political space to develop has also burnt Imran Khan’s foot in the flames.
He said, “I have been adamant that there is a need for cooperation to eradicate hatred and extremism from the society since last four year because if in this society we will promote intolerance and do politics based on hatred thus extremism cannot be eradicated.”

He said that after 2018, “If the scenario of politics is reviewed, in which Imran Khan has only promoted hateful political rhetoric, created fanaticism in the eyes of his supporters and used foul language against his opponents.“
