Almost a year after releasing her 2021 album desAMORfosis, the Queen of Latin Pop is back with more music, and she’s back in touch with her “psycho” side.

Thala’s new single, called “Psycho Bitch,” comes out on Friday. The Mexican pop star talked about her new song and how she relates to its title. She also talked about how her long and successful career keeps giving her new ideas.

The 51-year-old “No Me Acuerdo” singer says, “I was born a psycho bitch.” “Just that I think some people have it better than others. You can take it seriously, but I see it in a different way. For people who like things to be the same, you are different when you are different, when you are yourself, and when you express yourself however you want, whenever you want. You are weird.”

She goes on, “You are called a psycho bitch because they put you in a special tag. But that’s just how you are, you’re real.”

Thala paid homage to her 1995 song “Gracias a Dios,” in which her character is described as “psychotic,” by having her dancers wear the same outfit she wore in the video.

Thala shared a sneak peek of the song with her fans on social media before it came out. It became a TikTok trend before the song even came out.

“People are starting to have fun with it, I think. I love social media because it lets me stay in touch with everyone and all of my followers “singer says. “They accept me for who I am and like me that way, and we talk a lot. We message each other. That is something I really value. I like how close I am to my fandom.”

She goes on, “It’s really cool that you can just DM someone on the other side of the world and then make a group with all these other creators. They are very busy making a lot of things for “Psycho Bitch” right now. My fans are crazy like me, so that’s something we have in common.”

Thalía says Love’s 30th anniversary was “wild” and “full circle” last month.

“If you see some of the videos from that album, [they] are very, very PB [psycho bitch]. You see all the looks, the dancing, and the interactions with the dancers. It’s really psycho bitch. So, I’m really happy that I’m touching base again with a part of me that has been there for so many years, projects, albums, and songs.”

The singer-songwriter believes she’s still inspired decades after her breakthrough album, Thalía.

“I love music. I love to write. I love to do collabs with producers, songwriters, singers. I love to create. I love to sing stories about love, betrayal, and freedom. It’s part of my healing process as a human being. In my own research, I create music. So, that’s what keeps me going and keeps me inventing things, because I’m just healing myself through it.”

Thalía also enjoys relaxing with her two children, son Matthew Alejandro, 11, and daughter Sabrina Sakaë, 15, whom she shares with husband Tommy Mottola. “I love being with them,” she adds.

“I love to do my workout to stay contact. I’m a pretty outdoorsy person. I love trees, rivers, and my animals. I love rock climbing, hiking, water skiing, so it helps me be a little calm,” she adds.

“One of the [most essential] things is having a healthy and clear mind and heart. Your soul needs to be pure and clear, and strive as much as you can because we’re humans, flawed,” she says.

“Psycho Bitch” is released.
