According to The Hollywood local news agency, environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio has been declared a strategic investor in the British sneaker brand LØCI.
DiCaprio said in a statement, “I am proud to be an investor in Løci, a brand dedicated to minimizing its environmental impact and centered around creating cruelty-free, ethical footwear.”
The Academy Award winner has joined a £4 million seed round that will “enable the young, creative label to amplify its mission to a wider global audience, driving awareness and shining a light on the causes that matter while LØCI continues to make waves in the fashion industry,” according to a press release.
Many A-list celebrities, including Jessica Alba, Ben Affleck, Mila Kunis, Eva Longoria, Nikki Reed, and Olivia Wilde, have worn minimalist-chic vegan sneakers.
In 2021, entrepreneurs Emmanual Eribo, Frank Eribo, Philippe Homsy, and Mark Quaradeghini launched the Londen brand.
LØCI uses an estimate of 20 ocean- and landfill-bound plastic bottles destined for dumping along the African and Mediterranean coastlines.
The unisex sneakers are handcrafted in Portugal and redesigned weekly to reduce production waste and their environmental impact.
