There is a wide range of animals that we keep as pets. Some individuals love dogs, while others prefer cats, and yet others prefer reptiles such as snakes. In a viral online video, a snake owner was bitten by her pet as she attempted to remove it from its cage.

In the footage, a woman is seen attempting to lift the cage’s lid, while the reptile hisses at her. Within seconds, the snake bites her hand and attempts to wrap itself fully around the woman’s shoulder. The woman tries unsuccessfully to reintroduce the snake inside the lid. She is clearly in discomfort. Another man rushes to her aid, but the massive reptile continues to clutch the woman’s hand. The man attempts to push the snake towards himself and obtains a snake hook in order to remove the creature. The woman is clearly bleeding by this point.

The video was uploaded on Twitter by Daily Loud and has received over 80 million views and over one lakh likes.

Many commenters questioned the idea of keeping snakes as pets in response to the unpleasant video. As one user put it, “That’s why I don’t like exotic pets so unpredictable” “Why would you ever want a snake as a pet. They have no loyalty to you,” another user stated a third was added, “You people are gonna learn one day to stop making predators pets.”

It is unknown where the video was shot or whether the woman was moved to safety.

A snake-lover in the United States narrowly avoided death a few months ago when his 15-foot pet snake wrapped itself around his neck.
