A Meta representative said, “We’re aware that some users are now experiencing problems sending messages, and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as soon as possible.”
Worldwide, there are about two billion WhatsApp users.
According to online site Downdetector, users have reported issues starting at 07:17 GMT. Users discovered that they could launch the program and see prior discussions during this time, but they were unable to send or receive new messages.
People in Canada, Colombia, France, India, Israel, Mexico, the UK, and other nations were reportedly impacted by the issue, according to Downdetector. According to the website, as of around 07:50 GMT, 68,000 customers in the UK and 19,000 people in Singapore had reported service outages.
By combining status information from many sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform, Downdetector keeps track of outages. There’s a chance that more customers were impacted by the outage.
Under the hashtags #WhatsApp and #WhatsAppdown, users took to social media to express their frustration that the service was not functioning.
