- YouTube celebrated its 17th birthday today with a major revamp of its look and feel.
- Users can now zoom in and out of videos without having to keep their hands on the screen.
- Dynamic colour sampling discreetly adds the video’s colour to the app background.
After celebrating its 17th birthday earlier this year, YouTube’s creators chose to further polish the site’s look and feel, revealing two updates that might significantly alter your YouTube experience. YouTube first went live in 2005 and has undergone numerous upgrades since then.
YouTube added the ability to zoom in and out of a video after many users requested it. Another plus is that the movie doesn’t automatically lose detail as you release your grip on the screen. This allows you to watch a video at a magnified size without having to keep your hands on the screen the whole time.
Additionally, precise seeking has the potential to significantly alter the game. You may see several previews of your film on the player, and it works on both desktop and mobile devices. When trying to locate a specific scene in a video, this is quite useful.
Nate Koechley, YouTube’s UX director, blogged about its redesign today.
Ambient Mode changes. Dynamic colour sampling discreetly adds the video’s colour to the app background. Focus and device attention are the goals. Ambient Mode adds vibrancy without distracting. Dark theme enables it on mobile and online.
Dark theme shade improved too. It’s darker to highlight your video. Web, mobile, and Smart TVs will get this capability.
A clutter-reducing video player overhaul is also coming. The jumbled YouTube links in video descriptions will become buttons. Like, share, and download buttons will be cleaned up. The huge red subscribe button will also change colour, shape, and contrast. Again, it should stick out more.
After checking out the change, discover how to publish your own YouTube content. Use this guide.
