The account claims that while visiting Poundbury, his model village in Dorset, Charles made the following remarks: “I am thrilled. I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old.”
He continued by stating that he had been desperately wishing for a daughter and called Charlotte “lovely.” Princess Charlotte is the oldest of the five grandchildren that the King has.
