LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed the petition on grounds of withdrawal against the rules of the Transgender Act.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan heard the hearing on Imran Javed’s petition. During the hearing, the lawyer pleaded that no rule can be made contrary to the constitution.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan remarked that how the petitioner affected the party in this case. The lawyer replied that the rules made regarding transgender may affect my rights.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan asked how you are affected in this case as such a case is already being heard by the court under public interest and the hearing of that case is in its final stages.
The court said that the court has also appointed an assistant in this case but it is in the initial stage.
The petitioner lawyer replied, “I am not challenging the Act, I have challenged the rules.”
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan said that you may not understand what the court is saying. After which the lawyer said that he want to withdraw the case.
The court dismissed the plea on the grounds of withdrawal.
The petitioner believed that according to the rule any man or woman can make a gender change identity card.

The petitioner had requested to abolish the rules of the Transgender Act as being contrary to Islamic teachings and laws.
