- Daft Punk’s own TikTok channel launches on Monday.
- Users will have access to the duo’s back catalogue of music for the first time.
- Fans can also use two new filters for their videos.
Dance legends Daft Punk may have put their robotic helmets away last year, but with the introduction of their own TikTok channel on Monday, they hope to win over a new generation of fans.
Due to the partnership with TikTok, users will now have access to the French duo’s entire discography for use in their own videos.
Daft Punk, also known as Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, owned the rights to all of their songs from the beginning of their career in the 1990s.
That indicates that TikTok’s recent agreements with record labels to licence music for the platform did not apply to them, necessitating a direct agreement with the band.
Fans will be able to use two new filters starting on Tuesday to add bespoke robot helmets or the famous Charlie the dog to their videos. Charlie initially made an appearance in Spike Jonze’s 1997 music video for “Da Funk.”
The group will also upload content to the channel, covering pieces of their career from 1993 to 2011.
