Two persons allegedly involved in phone hacking of the PM House have been arrested, confirmed the government sources.
Both individuals were rounded up by an intelligence agency, the sources further said.
One of the arrested persons belongs to an educational institution of Rawalpindi whereas the other is from a city in central Punjab.
They both have been handed over to the National Security Agency and they are being investigated. Information about their handlers is also being obtained.
The sources said that they were in contact with the security staff of the Prime Minister’s House. Security personnel of the PM House may be arrested soon, the sources added.
Reacting to the news, PTI leader Fawad Hussain tweeted.

Another PTI leader Dr. Iftikhar Durrani also tweeted and said, “Another joke with the nation: If two students can steal 100 hours of data of Prime Minister’s Office on 8 Gb, it is a source of embarrassment for the institutions and a sinkhole for the Prime Minister’s Office. Such a stupid statement from Rana Sanaullah and his subordinate committee was expected.
A few days earlier, leaked audio went viral on social media — allegedly featuring Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif — containing a discussion regarding PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz asking for a power plant from India to be imported for her son-in-law.
The second leaked audio that has gone viral in quick succession on social media allegedly featured PM Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and others — containing a discussion regarding PTI’s resignations.
In it, PML-N leaders can allegedly be heard giving their opinions over PTI’s resignations. They are also talking about London’s permission to accept the resignations.
The leaked audio clip has rung alarm bells and raised serious questions about the security of PM House.
It is also being said that there are secret recording systems installed at the PM House which even government representatives are unaware of.
However, PML-N members and federal ministers are reluctant to speak on the matter.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, while raising questions over the cyber security situation in the country, said that PM House’s data has been put on sale on the dark web.
Reacting to the leaked audio, PTI’s leader Shireen Mazari said one of the alleged audios showed the laying down of groundwork for “absconder Dar’s return”.

“The leaked audios certainly reveal the influence of convict Nawaz Sharif and his convict-on-bail daughter in the running of this imported government itself a cabal of crooks,” she added.
The “real issue” is who bugged the PMO or PM House in the first place, she went on to say.
“The hacking happened because devices were placed in these locations. So who is responsible and where did orders or decisions come from? That is a question that must also be focused on,” she said.
