More than 1,000 people crossed the English Channel on Sunday in 25 boats, the Ministry of Defense said.

It brings to 34,672 the total number of migrants who have left France this year.

The Ministry of Defense said they saw 1,065 people crossing the border on Sunday. No one heard of any “uncontrolled landings.”

In small boats, 28,526 people crossed the Channel last year, compared to 8,404 in 2020.

The Home Office said that migrants who enter the UK by going through safe countries “will not be able to start a new life here.”

The English Channel is one of the world’s busiest and most dangerous shipping lanes.

Many migrants come from some of the poorest and most dangerous parts of the world, and when they are picked up by UK authorities, many of them ask for asylum.

In April, the government made a deal with Rwanda to try to stop people from taking the dangerous trip across the Channel.

But the first deportation flight, which was supposed to leave on June 14, was cancelled because of legal problems.

A government spokesperson said, “The continued rise of dangerous Channel crossings is a clear violation of our immigration laws. It puts the lives of vulnerable people at risk and gives money to horrible criminal gangs.”

“Migrants who travel through safe countries to illegally enter the UK will not be able to start a new life here, no matter what lies the people smugglers told them.”
