King Charles III won’t get to wear the crown by summer 2023

  • The coronation of King Charles III is still months away.
  • He will formally become king in 2022, but he won’t be able to wear the crown until 2023.
  • The coronation event requires “enormous amounts of preparation,” according to reports.

King Charles III only recently succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth II to the British throne on September 8, 2022, but he won’t be able to wear the crown until following year.

Since his ceremonial coronation ceremony is still months away, Charles has not yet donned the crown, according to Express UK.

The crowning ceremony, during which King Charles will take the coronation oath, typically takes place “several months” after the period of mourning for the previous king has concluded, according to The Royal Family’s official website.

The coronation event requires “enormous amounts of preparation,” according to reports, which is why it’s being suggested that Charles might formally don the British throne in the summer of 2023.

This occurs as Queen Elizabeth’s own coronation, which was scheduled for June 1953 but was actually held in June 1952, was postponed by a year.
