SC dismisses pleas seeking disqualification of Khusro Bakhtiyar and Hashim Jawan

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed pleas seeking the disqualification of Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiyar and Hashim Jawan.

The SC observed that the petitioner had failed to produce any evidence of concealment of assets even in the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The SC said that a complaint was made only to NAB, and two members of the Assembly could not be disqualified on the base of it.

A three member-bench headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan heard the matter. During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer Ahsan Abid was reprimanded by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan when he could not satisfy the bench over the questions asked by it.

The bench said, “When you are asked a question, why you start looking at the sky?”

“Don’t you know etiquettes of appearing in the Supreme Court, whether there are three useless people sitting in front of you? Such an attitude is contempt of court,” the bench said.

Advocate Ahsan Abid apologized for his behavior on this occasion.

He took the position that Khusro Bakhtiar and his brother have hidden the assets.

Justice Ayesha Malik on this occasion remarked, “The document you are relying on is the complaint filed with NAB, should two members of the Assembly be disqualified only by the complaint filed with NAB?

Justice Mazhar Naqvi said it would be appropriate to withdraw the application.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan asked whether you contested the election against Khusro Bakhtiar.

Advocate Ahsan Abid said that Khusro Bakhtiar got 100,000 votes and he got about 1,000 votes.

Justice Mazahar Naqvi remarked on this occasion that they should wait for new elections.
