KARACHI: The police on Saturday submitted the interim challan of the case related to the recovery of the Bentley luxury car stolen from the UK in Custom Court at Karachi.
In this regard, two accused Naveed Yamin and Muhammad Sohail have already been arrested.
According to the interim challan, the alleged are accused of evading Rs 300 million by evading tax duty and violating customs laws and diplomatic immunity laws.
The challan further stated that taking advantage of diplomatic immunity, the vehicle would be retained without paying tax duty.
A man named Shafi bought the luxury car for Rs 37.5 million, which is a fraction of the total value of the Bentley car.
The police said in their challan that they are investigating the role of excise officials in vehicle registration in Karachi.
The car was imported in the name of the Bulgarian ambassador after producing a Diplomatic Immunity Certificate.
Ambassador of Bulgaria visited Pakistan in September 2019 and returned in September 2020.
The Bulgarian Embassy had requested the authorities to impound the luxury car to prevent it from being misused, after which the embassy also reported canceling the car’s registration as it was no longer in use.
According to the challan, the accused Yamin sold the car to the citizen Shafi through a broker named Naveed Balwani and all the accused are involved in the crime.

Earlier, The authorities in Karachi have recovered a highly-expensive vehicle, Bentley Mulsanne, which was stolen from London and then shipped to the port city.
