A 63-year-old man from Saudi Arabia made headlines around the world when it came out that he had married 53 different women in order to feel “stable” emotionally. Abu Abdullah, who is known as the “Polygamist of the Century,” says he got married more than once not for his own pleasure but to find peace and stability.
“I married 53 women over long periods. The first was when I was 20 years and she was six years older than me,” Abdullah told the media, which is owned by Saudi Arabia.
Abu Abdullah also had kids with his first wife, and things were going well for a while, but then problems came up, and he decided to get married again. At age 23, he married another woman and decided to live with more than one wife. As per the media when problems started to arise between Abdullah’s first and second wives, he decided to marry a third and fourth time and divorce his first two wives.
But none of his marriages worked out. He said that all of his marriages were because he was looking for a woman who could make him happy. Abdullah said that the marriage that lasted the least was only one night. Most of his wives were from Saudi Arabia, but he did marry a woman from another country while on a work trip that lasted a few months. “I used to stay for three or four months, “I used to stay for three to four months. So I married to protect myself from vice,” he said.
“Every man in the world wishes to have one woman and remain with her forever… Stability is not to be found with a young woman, but with an old one,” Abdullah said. He told the MBC in a week programme that he didn’t get married more than once for personal pleasure, but for stability and mental comfort. He also said that he is now married to one woman and has no plans to get married again.
