Taylor Swift is a multifaceted artist who is now interested in exploring the world of filmmaking. The All Too Well: The Short Film, which the Shake it Off singer wrote, filmed, produced, and performed in, made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Swift highlighted her desire to tell tales and the steps she took to become a director in her “In Conversation With” segment.
Swift said that “t was always a part of the process, establishing visuals,
“The more responsibility I took on, the happier I was.”
She also went into great length about how she changed from just writing songs and melodies to putting words and music to film with storyboards and a shot list in her songwriting.
Although the Red singer may appear to be a natural at her job, she said that making the video required taking baby steps. When she created the music video for her own song The Man off her 2019 album Lover, she made her debut as a filmmaker.
“I didn’t go to film school. I’ve been on the set of around 60 music videos and I’ve learned a lot from that process. But when I did it on my own, I really began to learn everything, because you have to.”
Swift said, “I will always want to tell human stories about human emotion.”
