ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that in order to meet the serious problems that have arisen since the floods, the same spirit of sacrifice and fortitude was needed as the nation was commemorating on Defense Day.

He remarked in his opening remarks as he presided over the federal cabinet meeting that it was important to keep the spirit of 1965 in mind while the nation dealt with severe floods and other difficulties.

The Pakistani nation’s greatest strength in overcoming adversities, according to the prime minister, is its togetherness.

According to him, over 30 million people were suffering the worst effects of flash floods, including the destruction of infrastructure, crops, and life.

PM Sharif paid homage to the 1965 war martyrs who gave their lives to ensure the nation’s safety and security. He said that the people and the military forces had successfully thwarted Indian attempts to erode the country’s integrity.

He claimed that the government chose to commemorate Defence Day in a straightforward manner due to the significant losses brought on by floods.

But, he added, wreaths will be placed at the martyrs’ final resting sites, and prayers would be made for their souls.
