Jazz, its digital financial service JazzCash, and its sister company, Mobilink Microfinance Bank, have all pledged a total of PKR 1 billion to help flood victims get emergency supplies and, more importantly, phone service.

The help will include short- and medium-term projects that will last for up to a year.

As part of this immediate rollout, Jazz will work closely with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the government to get shelter, food, and medical supplies to people in need.

The relief effort also makes it easy for Jazz customers to give money to charity through SMS and JazzCash. Jazz employees will also give to the nationwide relief effort on their own time.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, said, “During this unprecedented time, while our thoughts and prayers are with the flood affectees, we are also committed to ensuring connectivity to aid relief efforts, and extending a helping hand to our fellow citizens in terms of emergency supplies.”

“For us, it’s an obligation to respond to Pakistan’s time of need and we will go all the way in restoring the lives of those affected,”  he said.

Since staying connected is so important during a crisis, a big part of the help will go toward keeping emergency care and rescue helplines free or at a low cost.
