Oppo releases Color OS 13; Find X5 Series gets first update

  • The company is promoting an “aquamorphic design language,” much like Oxygen OS.
  • New features include improved always-on display customizations and cross-device support for Chrome and the Oppo Pad Air.
  • The Find X5 and Find X5 Pro will be the first devices to receive Color OS 13.

Oppo previously announced last week that Color OS 13 was coming, and the company has now made all of the details official.

And if it all seems a little familiar, that’s because Oppo’s new Android skin and the recently unveiled Oxygen OS 13 have a lot in common.

Oppo is promoting an “aquamorphic design language,” much like OnePlus. This means that a lot of blue and white will be present, along with modified system animations and animations for always-on displays that are inspired by nature.

The rest of what you’re getting?

The shared trappings don’t stop there; we also have a more secure file safe, the ability to create large folders (and open apps without first opening these folders), and more always-on display customizations (like the ability to display Spotify controls and information about food delivery on the AOD).

Oppo has added a tonne of other features as well. A Meeting Assistant (which minimizes alerts, prioritizes wireless data and allows you to take notes via a window), notification shade/quick toggle improvements for landscape orientation, and a so-called dynamic computing engine for smoother performance are all included.

The company continues by stating that Color OS 13 enables the Always-On Display of the Find X5 Pro to run at 1Hz, resulting in power savings of up to 30%.

Additionally, the Multi-Screen Connect feature for PC connectivity has been improved, and the Oppo Pad Air now supports copy/paste and cross-device functionality (such as app streaming to Chrome OS, Fast Pair, and automatically deleting your clipboard history).

Devices receiving Color OS 13

The Find X5 and Find X5 Pro will be the first devices to receive Color OS 13 starting today, according to Oppo.

The company also states that it would update about 35 smartphones to Color OS 13 this year, and more than 20 devices will get it in 2023.

Sadly, Oppo declined to provide a final timeline; nevertheless, at a pre-briefing earlier this month, the company announced that the Oppo Find X3 Pro would also receive the upgrade in August.
