  • The call disconnected and dispatchers tried to call and text back.
  • The address turned out to be the Zoo to You near Paso Robles.
  • Deputies deduced that a Capuchin monkey named Route had picked up the zoo’s cellphone, which was in a golf cart.

Police typically have a top suspect. The suspect in this case is a primate.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office thinks a young Capuchin monkey dialled 911 last Saturday evening from a zoo.

Deputies were deployed to investigate when the phone disconnected and dispatchers attempted to call and text back but received no answer, the office stated in a social media post.

The deputies discovered that no one had placed the call at the address, which turned out to be the Zoo to You close to Paso Robles.

Finally, they came to the conclusion that Route, a Capuchin monkey, had picked up the zoo’s cellphone, which was in a golf cart used to navigate around the grounds.

The notice at the office read, “We’re heard Capuchin monkeys are quite inquisitive and will grab everything and anything and just start hitting buttons.”
