Daniela Elser, a royal author, predicts a “very unpleasant” meeting between the Sussex newlyweds and the Queen.
“But time, oh she can be a cruel mistress, and the timing of the Montecito Two’s British return could not be more precarious or already have the makings of a PR nightmare,” Ms. Elser wrote for News.com.au.
The Sussexes’ high-wattage return will be abruptly dropped down the ladder into second or third position on the day, she continued, and this also creates the possibility of a very unpleasant encounter with the Queen.
“Will Her Majesty schedule a visit with her grandson and future in-law? Ms. Elser asks queries. Or could she give the snub that would put an end to all snubs?
Ms. Elser went on: “If the Queen and the Netflix experimenters find themselves within a short driving distance of one another and the nonagenarian does not make an attempt to see them, it will be nothing short of utterly embarrassing for the pair.
After all, disgruntled, exiled former HRHs who won’t meet the affable, well-liked Queen are considerably tougher to sell to audiences.
