Fans of the movie Silence of the Lambs already know about the death’s-head hawkmoth caterpillar. The moth on the poster for the 1991 movie that won multiple Oscars was recently seen in the garden of a couple in the UK.
Someone named Ian Williams posted the pictures of the caterpillars eating the bushes in their garden on social media. In the psychological horror movie, Buffalo Bill’s calling card was a creepy moth with a skull on its back. Internet users were thrilled to find these creepy moths.
Williams shared their pictures by writing, “@IoloWilliams2 mate, what’s this bad boy? We caught three of them tearing up a bush in our garden in Brynmenyn, Bridgend. Here are his brother and sister.

The BBC reported that Williams said, “I was in the kitchen when I heard a scream. My wife was cutting back this bush in our garden.” He also said, “That’s when we found it. It’s a good thing it wasn’t cut in half.”
The School of Biosciences at Cardiff University’s Dr. Sarah Christofides told the BBC, “If I found one, I’d be really, really happy and excited.”
“Hawkmoths are usually very big moths, and you don’t see them as often as some of the smaller ones. “An adult death’s-head hawkmoth is a very beautiful animal, as you can see if you look at one,” she said.
