The Continental will debut on Peacock with three episodes

  • The three-episode series will be set before the events of the John Wick films.
  • It will study the origin of the Continental Hotel, which serves as a haven for criminals.
  • Mel Gibson will portray an original character named Cormac.

In 2023, Peacock will debut The Continental, a three-episode series set before the events of the John Wick flicks. In a press release, NBC revealed that it has negotiated a “multi-year deal” with Starz for The Continental, which was previously scheduled to debut on that network.

The Continental will not focus on Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin, unlike the previous films. Instead, it will study the origin of the Continental Hotel, which serves as a haven for criminals in the John Wick franchise.

The story is set in New York City in 1975 and follows a younger Winston Scott (Colin Woodell of The Flight Attendant) as he attempts to seize control of the Continental Hotel. Ayomide Adegun will portray a young Charon, a concierge at the Continental, and Peter Greene will play a young Charlie, the crime scene cleanup expert who appeared in the first and second John Wick movies.

Mel Gibson will portray an original character named Cormac, a decision that has been met with criticism owing to previous allegations of antisemitic, homophobic, sexist, and racist behaviour. Ben Robson plays Frankie, Hubert Point-Du Jour plays Miles, Jessica Allain plays Lou, Mishel Prada plays KD, and Nhung Kate plays Yen.

The limited series will debut around the same time as the March 24, 2023 release of John Wick 4 in theatres.
