  • Police said they didn’t believe the crash to be medical- or impairment-related.

Two people who were eating at a fast food restaurant in North Carolina were killed on Sunday, according to authorities.

The single-vehicle collision happened at around 9:45 a.m. at a Hardee’s restaurant in Wilson, a city located about 40 miles to the east of Raleigh, the state capital.

According to a police news release, the brothers Christopher and Clay Ruffin, both 58 years old and from Wilson, were hit by the Lincoln Aviator. While his brother passed away at the Greenville, North Carolina, ECU Health Medical Center, Christopher Ruffin was pronounced dead at the spot.

The silver SUV looked to have crashed through the front windows, stopping inside the dining room on top of shattered glass and window frames, according to photos taken at the site.
