Raveena had admitted that the two had been dating around 1995. Rekha and Akshay were rumoured to be dating in 1996, however Raveena subsequently admitted in an interview that there was no passion between them and that Akshay only wanted to “runaway from Rekha.”

After collaborating on the 1994 blockbuster movie Mohra, Raveena and Akshay started dating. In an interview, Raveena claimed that the couple had gotten engaged in the late 1990s. During the 1996 filming of Khiladiyon ka Khiladi, linkup rumours about Akshay and Rekha circulated in the press. Raveena Tandon stepped in and put an end to the rumours.

She told Reddit in an interview, “I don’t think Akshay ever had anything to do with Rekha. As a matter of fact, he would run away from her. Akshay tolerated Rekha because of the film. At one point she wanted to get lunch dabbas for him from home. That’s when I put my foot down. I felt it was taking things a bit too far.”

In 1998, after splitting from Raveena, Akshay began dating Twinkle Khanna, the co-star of International Khiladi. They were married in 2001 after a few years of dating. The couple has two kids: a daughter named Nitara was born in 2012, and they had a son named Aarav in 2002.
