“We are in a very sensitive stage of our investigation,” said Chief Superintendent Martyn Parker as he briefed reporters.
Earlier, the police department released four CCTV photographs of a suspect taken five minutes before Lillia was discovered, warning people not to approach him and to phone 911 immediately if they saw him.
According to police, the photographs were taken around 6.15 p.m. on Thursday in the Wormgate and Fountain Lane area.
Lillia, who had been fatally stabbed, was discovered on Fountain Lane around 6.20 p.m. on Thursday.
She was apparently playing with her younger sister on the street, just yards from their mother’s office at the time.
According to witnesses, the girls were playing with a hula hoop, and a toy pram was left at the site.
Marko Iosif, nine, was in Lillia’s class and said she was cute.”always really enthusiastic and always happy”.
He “needed” to pay his respects and will remember his friend as “always taking care of others,” he told the media.
Alin, Marko’s father, described Lillia’s death as “terrifying,” adding that “everyone is quite afraid.”
People “do not feel safe anymore,” he added, and parents are “afraid to leave their children in the street now.”
Lillia adored dancing, according to Jurate Matulioniene, a family friend and head of the Boston Lithuanian Community.
“Lillia was a beautiful angel, extremely quiet and adored dancing,” she told repoters.
“The family used to come to all of our community events and they would always stay late to help clear up.
“I have spoken to the mum and asked for her account details because we want to do a fundraiser but she would not accept it.”
