Viral: TikTok user responds to rejection mail with meme

  • A viral TikTok video shows how a woman responded to an email rejection by sending a meme.
  • The video has almost 18 million views. Netizens praised the woman for her innovative response, including how to manage rejection.
  • One user said responding to rejection was literally how he got his job.

A viral TikTok video tells how a lady secured a job interview despite being denied and sending a meme in response. Swedish Swan posted a clip showing a woman applying for jobs at several places.

One of the recruiters sent her an email rejection. Instead of sending a professional-sounding email, the woman sent a meme. The meme she sent has an image of Pope Leo X with “Y Tho” scribbled on it.

Her innovative response worked. According to the video, the meme worked and the woman obtained an interview offer. She told the Independent,  “Anyway, it worked,” she adds, “They sent me another email that they do in fact now want to interview me. I cannot believe that worked.”

The video has almost 18 million views. Netizens were happy and amused when the woman’s meme backfired.  “As a recruiter, if someone sent that to me I would ABSOLUTELY want an interview,” one user remarked. “As a recruiter, if someone sent this to me, I would try to find you another position,” said another.

Many praised the incident, including how to manage rejection. One user said responding to a rejection email landed him the job. “Responding to a rejection email was literally how I got my job now… I kept thinking: what are they going to do, NOT hire me MORE?”
