A UCLA professor quit because of the “woke takeover of higher education,” which he said was causing havoc at the school and other colleges.

Manson taught anthropology since 2000. When he was tenured, the department was “unusually calm, clear, and inclusive.” By the 2000s, Manson says, everything changed.
“One hire at a time, “critical” anthropology became the most important group,” he said. He argued “militant instructors” led to “militant graduate students.”
As the institution “wake up,” the anthropology professor saw P. Jeffrey Brantingham “humiliated” Students said he “normalised the criminality of Blackness in the US.”
Anthropology graduate students criticised Brantingham’s research, making him a “pariah.”
Manson’s popular crime class was withdrawn from the university’s catalogue, he stopped attending faculty meetings, and another UCLA “professor tried to organise a mob” against him, he said.
Manson’s blog article gained social media and academic attention. Jonathan Turley, a constitutional expert, said Manson’s retirement is a loss for “the entire teaching academy.”
“We talk about academic freedom but harass our colleagues. Most academics say nothing when ignored. We’re glad to see them go since it’s one less evidence of higher education’s decline.” Wednesday’s Turley.
Bill Kisliuk, a UCLA spokesperson, said the school supports academic freedom and the free exchange of ideas.
“We expect justice even when people disagree. Anti-Semitism and other hatreds however rejected at UCLA” Talk continued.
