SANGHAR: Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, stated on Wednesday that the Sindh government is striving to implement further changes in the provincial police department.
He was a distinguished visitor at Shahdadpur Police Training College’s 172nd passing out parade, where 561 students, including 27 women, earned Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) training.
The chief minister stated that police grades have been enhanced and that CTD special branch grades had also been upgraded. Murad expressed his pleasure at being able to join the parade.
He congratulated the young police on completing their training and getting high scores and expected that the youngsters would carry out their assigned obligations of maintaining law and order and protecting people’s lives and property.
The officers were recruited on merit, according to the chief minister, and the successful completion of their training signified the start of their careers. Sindh, he added, was a region of saints who always taught lessons of peace and where people of all races lived.
Murad stated that instability began in the province in 1980 as the situation in Karachi deteriorated, but that the situation had improved due to the efforts of the police and rangers who risked their lives to create calm in Karachi, which was ranked as the seventh most dangerous city in the world.
The chief minister stated that police and other departments should be recruited on merit and that new recruits in the police should undertake combined training with the army to increase police performance even more.
In terms of compensation, he stated that police salaries should not be lower than those granted in other provinces.
