Karachi Rain Update: Another spell of heavy rain forecast today

KARACHI: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are likely in the city today (Monday) as the second spell of monsoon season continues, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

According to Met Office, the highest rainfall last night was recorded in Orangi Town with 35.8 mm. The current temperature of the city is 28 degrees Celsius. The wind is blowing at a speed of 18 km per hour.

The daytime temperature will range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius. Strong winds are also likely during the day blowing at a speed of 30 to 35 km per hour.

During the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadid with 67 mm,  Saadi Town received 50.5 mm rainfall, 35.8 mm in Orangi, 35.5 mm in Quaidabad

There was 34.2 mm rain recorded in Jinnah Terminal, 33.2 mm in Old Airport, 27.8 mm in North Karachi and Surjani. Korangi recorded 26.5 mm rain, PAF Faisal Base 24 mm, and University Road 22.5 mm.

Gulshan-Maymar recorded 17.5mm, Kemari recorded 17.4 mm rain, PAF Masroor base 19 mm, DHA Phase II recorded 15 mm, Gadap 10 mm while the lowest rainfall was recorded at 2.2 mm in Saddar.

Meanwhile, load shedding continues in different areas of the city. Many parts of the city including Surjani Town, Yusuf Goth, Jahangir Road, Gurmandar, and Soldier Bazaar.

The worst load shedding is ongoing in Ranchor Line, Mahmoodabad, Delhi Colony, Hijrat Colony, and Garden. Loadshedding is going on in many areas including Orangi Town, SITE, and Gharibabad. After the late night rain, electricity has been suspended in many areas of Korangi.
