Coronavirus live updates:US suggests live streaming of funerals

The US’s health protection agency has insisted the mourners to say goodbye to loved ones by ive streaming their funerals.

The measure has been taken so people will not gather in the congregation to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

The international news agency stated that the National Funeral Directors Association and funeral homes across the US, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that a small number of people should be physically present at the funerals. The event should be streamed live for everyone else.

The CDC said that this is not due to the risk of being contracted from the person whose cause of death was Covid-19.

They said that no evidence supports this concept.

The measure has been taken so people can refrain from gathering and to start “social distancing” advice in the US and other countries as well.

Dr. David Berendes, an epidemiologist at CDC, informed the webinar, “As you think about planning for the event, limit the number of people if possible, use live-streaming options and perhaps have only immediate family on hand.”

Funeral homes had already offering live streaming services.

One funeral director Syracuse, New York, informed the local news that service was carried out by a pastor through webcam when travel bans were implemented.

Note that some funeral homes in the UK have pre-empted any official directives by providing live-streaming services.

In Ireland, officials have asked mourners not to kiss the bodies of their diseased people. Whereas the Irish Association of Funeral Directors recommended all services should be postponed.
