  • Lafangey have a lot of reference from Indian movie Anando Brahma.
  • Anando Brahma proved to be a significant source of inspiration for Indian regional filmmakers.
  • The producers haven’t said anything yet about Lafangey.

There is a long history of Lollywood and Bollywood sharing a creative interest. The latter, which makes up a sizable portion of the world economy, is notorious for subtly altering stories and copying information. Having said that, there have been numerous instances where Lollywood has shamelessly copied Bollywood. This time the Lafangey took the fall.

The movie makes reference to the horror-comedy subgenre and eerily resembles the 2017 Telugu film “Anando Brahma” from India.

Lafangey’s story largely centres on four men. Who, enter a haunted house that has been taken over by spirits for some selfish reasons. However, the premise, production design, lifted characters, camera angles, and cut points are all straight out of “Anando Brahma.’ Even the opening act, where Saleem Mairaj is flying on a chair. To the moment where Mani plays the flute in front of an empty chair.

For the uninitiated, Anando Brahma proved to be a significant source of inspiration for Indian regional filmmakers. In 2019, Petromax (Tamil), Bhootchakra Pvt. Ltd. (Bengali), Mane Maratakkide & Damayanthi (Kannada), and other adaptations of the movie were released.

The producers haven’t said anything yet about the plagiarism charges. It is regrettable that our filmmakers copy and paste. To keep local film alive, it is vital to push out creative content.
