- The court ordered to summon a session on July 1 for the recount
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said that the party will approach Supreme Court (SC) against the Lahore High Court (LHC) decision in regards to the election of Hamza Shehbaz as chief minister Punjab.
The former minister took to his Twitter and said that the solution given by the LHC will further deepen the political crisis in the province adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader has lost his slot after the verdict.
He also alleged that the decision announced by LHC has several anomalies and PTI has called legal advisers to make an action plan in regards to moving SC against the decision.
It is pertinent to mention here that LHC today announced the verdict on the pleas filed by PTI against the election of Hamza Shehbaz as CM Punjab. The court declared the election null and void and ordered the recount of the vote excluding the votes of 25 dissident members of PTI.
A five-member larger bench of the LHC, headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, and comprising Justice Shahid Jamil, Justice Shehram Sarwar, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi and Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh announced the verdict.
In this regard, the high court has ordered Governor Punjab to call an assembly session on July 1 (Friday) for the recount of the votes.
