At least 20 people were killed after a Russian missile destroyed a shopping centre in Ukraine, as shown on CCTV footage.
The building in the city of Kremenchuk, which was attacked on Monday, has left dozens of people injured and others are still missing (June 27).
The terrifying video of the incident shows the structure engulfed in flames as rubble is flung into the air. Local fire chief Ivan Melekhovets, who is helping with the rescue effort, said anyone still inside had “no chance of survival” due to the intensity of the fire.
He continued, “The toughest thing is to witness the dead – adults, children,” while confirming that there are still between 50 and 60 persons missing.
According to reports, Vladimir Putin’s last big assault on defenceless Ukrainians occurred in this episode.
Ukrainian media later posted the video on Twitter, which generated indignation as viewers labelled the attack by the Kremlin as “terrorism.”
Nobody except terrorism, according to one commenter.
Another person wrote, “The terrorist regime still kills so many innocent people.”
“#PutinIsaWarCriminal Long live free Ukraine,” a third remarked.
Photos taken after the incident reveal the structure to be utterly destroyed, with everything that was still standing completely burnt and covered in ash.
The report comes after a pro-Putin TV host stepped up his criticism of the event, claiming Russian troops may have been aiming at a neighbouring auto production and cautioning NATO against further inciting Russia.
Olga Skabeyeva complained, “The Kyiv dictatorship is displaying murderous provocations to the entire world and of course they are blaming us.”
In the video, which journalist Julia Davis translated and posted on Twitter, Skabeyeva continued by mentioning Bucha, where heinous war crimes are allegedly committed despite Putin’s assertions of the valour of his forces.
The Kremlin spokeswoman continued to deny that the mall had ever been the objective of the strike and instead advanced the Russian Defense Ministry’s claim that the missile had been aimed at an automobile facility nearby before local fires spread to damage the shopping centre.
By measuring the distance between the two places and locating video that showed the mall had been hit first, disinformation spotters Bellingcat have since disproved this notion.
According to Reuters, there are presently 18 confirmed fatalities from the incident that occurred in central Ukraine, while an additional 36 individuals are still missing.
