LAHORE: A sessions court on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to 14 leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in yet another case relating to May 25 long march violence.
The leaders who were granted bail include Hammad Azhar, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Yasir Gillani, Andleeb Abbas, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and his wife Mussarat Jamshed Cheema, Zubair Khan Niazi, Imtiaz Sheikh, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Nadeem Abbas, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Mian Akram Usman and Shafqat Mahmood.
Advocate Burhan Moazam Malik appeared on behalf of the PTI leaders before the court of Additional District & Sessions Judge Ahmad Hasanain Khan. He argued that the petitioners had been subjected to political victimisation.
He said the petitioners had already secured pre-arrest bails in six cases registered by the police on similar charges. He asked the court to allow the bail petitions of the petitioners.

The judge granted the interim bail to the petitioners till July 20 subject to furnishing of bail bonds of Rs100,000 and directed them to join the police investigation.
On June 20, an Islamabad court had granted an interim bail to the PTI leaders for alleged vandalism during the long march on May 25 in the capital.
The leaders who had been granted bail include Asad Umar, Qasim Khan Suri, Faisal Javed, Sheikh Rashid, Pervez Khatak, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Murad Saeed and others.
The judge had also directed the PTI leaders to become part of the investigations. Qasim Khan Suri, Shehryar Afridi, Ali Mohammad Khan, Asad Umar, Faisal Javed were present in the court during the hearing of the plea.
